Jumpcut creates captivating online courses about entrepreneurship.

There are over 1.3 million college students in the United States today majoring in business, but the classes they take are hideously outdated, and irrelevant to their future careers. Business education is fundamentally broken.

Jumpcut is where the next generation of entrepreneurs will be developed. Our online courses help people develop the skills they need in order to turn their passions into a successful business.

Our first course is a comprehensive YouTube Influencer course, where the world's top influencers teach you how to create compelling, original content, develop a massive following online, and monetize your audience so that you can live a life pursuing your passions.

Most online courses suck...unless you enjoy paying for monotonous lectures with a powerpoint slide or two thrown in. At Jumpcut, we ditch the traditional lecture-style course and utilize storytelling, cinematography, and soundtracks to make each course feel like a movie. Jumpcut is a Y combinator and venture-backed startup that creates cinematic online courses for entrepreneurs.

The founding team at Jumpcut has years of experience creating binge-worthy content — we’ve created multiple viral YouTube channels that now have over 4.5 million subscribers and over 500 million views. We’re now taking that content creation experience and applying it to the monotonous world of online education.

If you’ve ever taken an online course, you already know that 99% of them suck. That’s because they all do the same thing: record a dry and uninspiring instructor who talks to the camera for hours on end. While this is fantastic for getting over an Ambien addiction, it’s atrocious for actual learning.

Think about what can be done with video: we have the ability to create things like Avatar, The Dark Knight, and Game of Thrones, but the status quo when it comes to online courses is this. In an ice cream parlor of unlimited flavors, every other online education company has opted for vanilla. We have our eye on the mint triple chocolate chip birthday cake cookie dough with strawberry whipped cream and banana nut sprinkles.

Our team is approaching online learning in a completely new way: combining educational content with compelling stories, captivating cinematography, creative soundtracks, and much more. The result is a beautiful course that feels like a movie. We believe the future of education lies in creating world-class content.

Role Overview:

You’ll be working alongside our Director of Marketing and our Senior Copywriter to come up with innovative new marketing angles to sell our online courses, and spearheading our email marketing efforts. On a weekly basis, you’ll be helping to build and scale sales funnels for online courses that have previously gained over 15,000 customers from 81 countries around the world. We’re preparing for 3 new product launches over the next 6 months and your copy will play a vital role in making sure they’re successful.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage email marketing services by building email automations, uploading, and scheduling email creatives
  • Write copy for weekly content email blasts that builds the relationship with our subscribers
  • Strategize and write sales email sequences for digital product launches
  • Split-test subject lines and CTAs in emails to optimize for higher open rates and click through rates
  • Research and brainstorm marketing angles for new marketing tests and product ideas
  • Write long-form video scripts for digital product launches
  • Role Requirements:
  • 2+ years DR Copywriting experience, ideally for a B2C online business
  • Proven ability to write for social media ads, video sales letters, and sales emails
  • Exposure to different types of marketing funnels is a bonus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail and quality

    We are expanding the whole engineering team here at Jumpcut. We are rebuilding our learning platform to create interactive experiences that enhance students’ experiences. At the same time, our best-in-class marketing system is being rebuilt as well. This person will help us implement our goal microservices architecture and scale it for years to come.
    Responsibilities:
  • Design, Develop, Test and Implement Software to deliver world class courses and interactive learning experiences
  • Review code from your peers and collaborate as a team on architecture and technology selection
  • Scale and fortify applications for both performance and resilience in cloud environments

    Many companies believe that amazing UI is a “nice to have” -- for us, it’s a “need to have.” At first glance, our mission to create the world’s best online courses seems to revolve around course content and production quality. But in reality, that’s just the beginning. In order to truly set our students up for success, we believe we need to utilize design as an instrument to help students learn.

    Jumpcut is a Y Combinator company, and went through the startup accelerator in summer 2016. We create cinematic online courses with some of the world’s biggest influencers.     Role Overview:

    You will be the start of our in-house design team and the design leader for all-things Jumpcut. You’ll build on user-centered principles to create stunning and innovative visuals and interactions—from concept to execution—across all our platforms. The 2 priorities at the moment are leading our rebranding efforts and redesigning features for our proprietary course platform. We are looking for someone who will continually ask themselves: How can I improve the student learning experience, and how can I do so in a beautiful, innovative, and creative way?
    Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation of our brand redesign and the continual interpretation of the overall Jumpcut brand (including illustrations, typography choices, interpretations of the color palette, and designs with creative risks)
  • Contribute to increasing conversion rates of final sales by 10% through thoughtful design on opt-in pages, landing pages, etc.
  • Work closely with UX/Product to design sketches and mockups for new features and visually iterate on their user stories, wireframes, and flow charts
  • Elevate student experience by creating meaningful visual narratives with clear focal points across our digital platforms
  • Respond to technical feedback from our front-end developers and implement changes to complex challenges in a way that showcases our products’ personality/features
  • Role Requirements:
  • 4+ years experience creating stunning UI for consumer facing products
  • Portfolio showcasing a strong ability to creatively solution using visual and interactive design
  • Proven creative risk-taker - you don’t settle for “good enough” or “standard” design
  • Fluent in industry standard tools (Sketch, Photoshop, Figma, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of pixel perfect design, elevated color theory, and typography
  • Proven ability to communicate conceptual ideas and design processes across departments

    For us, design is not a luxury -- it’s a necessity. Our mission to create the world’s best online courses is not just about course content and production quality. In order to truly set our students up for success, we believe we need to utilize design as a learning instrument to help our students learn. That’s where you come in!

    Role Overview:

    We’re looking for a designer with a strong background in solving design and experience problems. As a UX/Product Designer, you will work directly with our product team and collaborate in our entire product design lifecycle; from ideation and wireframing, to high fidelity and implementation. You’ll be working on improving our core product, and coming up with elegant solutions to build the best online learning platform in the world.
    Responsibilities:
  • Improve our students’ learning experience by creating seamless, simple and intuitive experiences on our core platform
  • Collaborate with Product to brainstorm product ideas and user flow improvements 
  • Create UX deliverables, including wireframes, prototypes and hi-fidelity designs
  • Prototype interactive experiences that can be presented to and tested by users to validate designs
  • Work with engineering and QA during planning, implementation and testing to ensure design quality
  • Role Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience as a UI/UX or Product Designer creating products that demonstrate your ability to solve complex problems and craft meaningful experiences
  • Proficient with programs equivalent to: Adobe PS, Sketch, Illustrator, Figma, etc
  • Experience working with UX/UI, user research, wireframes, and product development
  • Experience working from ideation to development to implement your designs
